The EyeToy camera was a webcam that allowed the player to participate in mixed-reality minigames, where their body is able to interact with the games on-screen. This makes it a precursor of sorts to Xbox’s Kinect seven years later. The use among games would vary, but it’s most influential game was Toro’s first game, Doko Demo Issyo in 1999, turning him into a PS1 mascot in Japan. Since Memory Cards were sold separately, many PlayStation 1 games (like Crash Bandicoot) offered a password system that allowed you to return to where you left off with all your progress. Sony would later release a USB adapter to connect PS1 and PS2 Memory Cards to a PlayStation 3, even PS3s that couldn’t play those games.

Boss Fight Trophies

Provided you’ve already completed the game, all four worlds in the free PS5 pack-in adventure hides a secret bot, which can be unlocked by solving their respective riddles. Once you do, these bots will be added to your collection of bots when you play Astro Bot. This Astro’s Playroom guide and walkthrough is a compendium of knowledge.

This references 2016’s PlayStation VR Worlds for PS4, developed by SIE London Studio as the launch game for the PS VR. The London Heist level would be expanded into a full game called Blood & Truth in 2019. After going through gg88 with Shock Orbs in it, you’ll go up a tall shaft with fans trying to push you into Shock Walls. When you get to the very top, look in the background to spot two bots playing “Bot Fighter”. This is a reference to Street Fighter, Capcom’s famous fighting game franchise that debuted in 1987.

Throwback Artefacts

Those that haven’t played it have been tempted to give it a go with a second installment being announced, so an updated guide will be helpful to quite a few I would imagine. Some trophies are tied to the controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, so experiment with different interactions to discover hidden functionalities. To maximize your trophy-hunting efficiency in Astro’s Playroom, consider these helpful tips and tricks. First, thoroughly explore each level, paying close attention to hidden areas and interactive objects. Many trophies require specific actions in these less obvious spots.

Artifact 2/2 “Playstation Vita”– At the top of the above tower, jump and hold break the glass on top, then pull the revealed wire to get this artifact. Puzzle Piece 4/4 – After going up the above lily pad to continue, go to the left to find this puzzle piece. Artifact 1/2 “DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controller” – Continue left out onto the small island, defeat the three enemies then pull up the wires to find this artifact. Puzzle Piece 4/4 – Keep climbing and after going off two bounce pads you’ll be at the very top of the plaza, where you can find this puzzle piece.

Puzzle Piece 3/4 – After the checkpoint where you slide down a slope, this puzzle piece is to the right across the grey quicksand. Puzzle Piece 4/4 – When you reach the room with the fans blowing downward toward electrical hazards on the floor, this puzzle piece is between an electrified mine and these hazards. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – In this same starting area, go around the back of the rock pillar in the middle of the purple plants to find this puzzle piece.

A number of special bots were added to Astro’s Playroom in the months leading up to the release of Astro Bot. In Astro’s Playroom, the player has to complete 4 main locations divided into 4 levels. To collect all the collectibles, you will also need to walk around the main location – the CPU Plaza. PlayStation Labo lets you complete the collection by drawing prizes in a Gatcha-style game.

The smooth, 60-frames-per-second gameplay makes controlling Astro a real treat. While none of the sequences are terribly difficult, there’s enough of a challenge here to keep me busy for around six hours as I chase the Platinum Trophy. Sony boldly chose Astro Bot to lead the PlayStation 5 with the tech demo Astro’s Playroom.

Memory Meadow

Sharing tips, tricks, and strategies can significantly reduce the time and effort required to unlock these trophies. Video guides and walkthroughs can also provide visual aids and step-by-step instructions for particularly challenging tasks. The Silver trophies in Astro’s Playroom present a step up in difficulty compared to the Bronze, requiring more strategic gameplay and exploration. Earning these trophies involves mastering specific skills, discovering hidden areas, and completing more complex challenges within the game’s various environments. Earning this Platinum signifies that you have fully explored every nook and cranny of Astro’s Playroom, conquered all its obstacles, and collected every hidden secret. The remaining three puzzle pieces are all up the platforming path created when you pull the wire that’s up the ramp between the Memory Meadow and Cooling Springs entrances.

Many Bronze trophies are tied to specific actions within the game’s levels. For example, “Twisting Metal” requires you to perform a specific action using the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers, while “Jumping Splash! Others are related to finding hidden collectibles or completing mini-games. Welcome to the delightful universe of Astro’s Playroom, a charming platformer pre-installed on every PlayStation 5. More than just a game, it’s a vibrant celebration of PlayStation’s rich history, cleverly showcasing the innovative features of the DualSense controller.

Each hub world‚ like GPU Jungle‚ contains multiple pieces across its four areas. Collecting all pieces unlocks special rewards and contributes to trophy progress. Thorough exploration and careful navigation are key to finding every piece‚ ensuring you don’t miss any hidden gems. Astro Playroom features unique challenges that test your skills and speed. Speedrun-related trophies‚ like Blinding Speed‚ require completing levels as fast as possible‚ often under strict time limits.

This PS5 pack-in most certainly hues closer to a technical showcase, essentially a loosely-structured sandbox to mess around in and discover what the PS5 has to offer. But it has enough collectibles, creative ideas, and genuinely exciting uses of the DualSense that PS5 owners shouldn’t brush this one aside in the launch lineup. After months and months of hearing how the DualSense would immerse me like never before, Astro’s Playroom put promises into practice and impressively proved what’s possible with the PS5’s new controller.

In addition to a Puzzle Piece, you’ll see a Bot prancing down a line and clearing various shape-based obstacles. Vib-Ribbon was unique in that it loaded entirely into the PS1’s RAM, allowing players to insert their own music CDs to play levels to. When you first enter the rainy section of Gusty Gateway, far in the distance to the right is a giant bird harassing/helping a Bot with a giant feather. This is a reference to the infamous The Last Guardian which eventually released in 2016 and was made by Team Ico. The Bot holding a feather refers to the game’s boxart, while the moment where he falls off and is saved by the bird references the E gameplay demo. These trophies introduce you to Astro Playroom’s creative levels and DualSense features‚ making them a delightful way to begin your trophy hunt.

There are environmental puzzles that must be solved by pulling certain wires to open new platforms to jump on to make the ascent much more convenient. The main boss for this level is the Demo 1 Dinosaur, more commonly known as the Demo 1 T. This fellow was in the Dinosaur Tech demo to show the power of the PlayStation at rendering a single character. The T. Rex makes many other appearances in Astro’s Playroom, including the Dreams reference in Renderforest and some of the screens in the PlayStation Labo area.

Land on the next switch to the left to lower some more platforms above. Jump up the platforms to the top, but keep an eye out on the top-left to spot Puzzle Piece #2. On the capsule itself, we included a small hint showing the image of a clock. Looking carefully around the level nearby, you will find a similar clock symbol carved into one of the trees up above.
